What is a Mobility Support Dog?

These dogs are taught to retrieve items that are dropped or in the case of an item already in place the owner would use the directed retrieve. The dogs can also brace for physical support while transferring. Some of our applicants use a power wheelchair, others a manual chair and still others use a variety of mobility equipment. So, the dog’s assistance can also include help with automated doors, elevators, removal of clothing, turn off/on lights or carrying items.
